Like many “basketball moms/dads’’, “we” end up volunteering to coach a rec. league basketball team that will have one of our sons, daughters, or adopted relatives on its roster.
“We”, with little or no prior coaching experience, and with little to no clue as to how to even begin to tackle such an imposing challenge.
Coach Doug Bonanomi has held head coaching positions for various Rec League basketball teams for over fifteen seasons, both for Philadelphia summer outdoor leagues and several winter traveling leagues. Three of his teams have won Rec league tournaments to end the summer season as reigning champions. Initially, that would have seemed like a daunting task. But there is a lot to be learned over fifteen seasons and Coach Doug has put it all down on paper for you, the novice coach, to use as a reference.
With this reference guide in hand, not only can you tackle such a challenge, but, if you stick with it long enough, you can come out smelling like a hall-of-fame coach… whatever that means…
