Archie Mc Callister wants to be a writer. He also wants to play basketball for his school. A school that was once a safe haven for underprivileged boys but has now become the Philadelphia School of the Arts for Gifted Children. And all of his basketball ‘buddies’ have been kicked out and replaced with a bevy of ‘smart-aleck’ ballerinas, led by none other than one Mollie Maguire McKenzie.

Archie becomes apprised of his fate one day when confronted quite randomly by Mollie in the school’s library where ‘intellectually-gifted’ Mollie somewhat generously offers to help him with his
year-long ‘bicentennial’ project for Mrs. White’s Creative Writing class.

Is Mollie spending her free time auditing Archie’s class simply because she has an innate interest in creative writing on top of all of her other dance, theater, and music obligations?

Or are Mollie’s intentions more sinister?

Archie’s much too busy with his own prose, poetry, and playwriting curriculum, along with his other chores working outside for Mr. Gates on the campus landscaping activities, to consider what Mollie’s overall intentions may be.

Can either Archie alone or the two of them together come up with a winning entry in Mrs. White’s bicentennial competition?

Or, more importantly – can Archie prove he is up to the challenge of everything Mollie and the other dancing darlings keep throwing his way?
